Settings & rules
Filters, file naming, routing rules, duplicate filtering, favorites, and your download library.
MediaGrabber Pro works out of the box, but a few settings make it much faster for the way you download. Open the popup and go to Settings (the gear icon).
Everyday settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Media filter | Which types show by default — All, Images, Videos, or Audio |
| Dark mode | Switches the extension to a dark theme |
| Ask where to save | Turn on to choose a folder for every file; off saves automatically |
| Open in side panel | Makes the side panel the default instead of the popup |
| Default folder | The subfolder inside Downloads where files land (default: MediaGrabber) |
Rename files as they save
Turn on the file renamer to give downloads consistent, tidy names instead of
whatever the site called them. You build a pattern from tokens — for example
{name} — and set an optional separator, so a batch of images comes out named
predictably rather than as random strings.
Routing rules
Routing rules send different files to different folders automatically. For
example: images from one site into Wallpapers, audio into Music. Once a rule
is set, matching downloads sort themselves with no extra clicks.
The free plan supports up to 5 active routing rules. Premium lets you create as many as you need.
Duplicate & similar-image filtering
MediaGrabber Pro can automatically hide duplicates and near-identical images so you don't download the same thing twice — very handy on image-heavy pages. Automatic duplicate and similar-image filtering is a premium feature.
Download acceleration
When the optional companion helper is installed, premium can accelerate large downloads by splitting them into several connections at once (8 by default), the way dedicated download managers do. This is on automatically when available; you can turn it off in Settings.
Favorites
Save any item to Favorites to keep it handy — useful for media you return to often. The free plan keeps up to 100 favorites; premium is unlimited.
Your download library
MediaGrabber Pro keeps a library (history) of what you have downloaded so you can find and re-download things later. The free plan shows your most recent 100 items; premium keeps your full history.
Free plan volume limits
To keep things fair, the free plan has a few generous guardrails. These are anti-abuse limits, not the paid features — premium is about capability (quality, audio, bulk, speed), not about how much you download.
- 30 downloads per day
- 100 saved favorites
- 5 active routing rules
- 100 items of visible download history
